Command Sergeant Major Romeo Montez III enlisted in the United States Army upon graduating from High School, and completed Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia. Command Sergeant Major Montez has served in the Army more than 26 years in various assignments throughout the United States and overseas, to include Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 56th Field Artillery Brigade, Swaebish Gmuend, Germany; 102nd Quartermaster Company and Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment 561st Supply and Services Battalion Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Headquarters Support Company 3rd Military Intelligence Battalion, Camp Humphrey, Korea; 53rd Quartermaster Company, Fort Hood, Texas; Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1st Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea; 493rd Supply and Services Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Brigade, and 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment Support Troop, Fort Carson, Colorado; Headquarters and Headquarters Company 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Camp Stanley, Korea; A Company, 702nd Main Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia; Headquarters Support Company 603rd Aviation Support Battalion, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; 240th Quartermaster Battalion and 49th Quartermaster Group, Fort Lee, Virginia.
Command Sergeant Major Montez has held leadership positions as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, and Command Sergeant Major with the 603rd Aviation Support, Battalion, Division Support Command, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; and Command Sergeant Major with the 240th Quartermaster Battalion and 49th Quartermaster Group, Fort Lee, Virginia.
He has an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College, Bachelor’s Degree in management from Excelsior University, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Trident University. His military education includes Basic Airborne, Battle Staff, Air Assault Course, Operations Course (Phase one and two), Truck Driving course (H7), Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses, First Sergeant Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Command Sergeant Major Development course, and Command Sergeant Major Force Management Course (CSMC).
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon with numeral four, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral three, Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. He has earned the Sergeant Audie Murphy Medallion and the Order of St. Martin Medallion.
