Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Romeo Montez III enlisted in the United States Army upon graduating from High School, and completed Basic Training at Ft. Leonard wood, Missouri and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia. Command Sergeant Major Montez has served in the Army over 26 years in various assignments throughout the United States and overseas, to include HHB, 56th FA BDE, Swaebish Gmuend, Germany; 102ND QM Company and HHD 561st S&S BN, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; HSC 3RD MI BN, Camp Humphrey, Korea; 53rd QM Company, Fort Hood, Texas; HHC 1/72ND Armor 2ID, Camp Casey, Korea; 493RD S&S Company,  HHC 1/4 Aviation, and 3RD ACR Support Troop, Fort Carson, Colorado; HHC 2/2 Combat Aviation, Camp Stanley, Korea; A Company, 702 MSB, Fort Stewart, Georgia; HSC 603rd ASB, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; USASMA, Fort Bliss, Texas; 240th QM BN and 49th QM Group, Fort, Lee, Virginia.

CSM Montez has held leadership positions as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, and Command Sergeant Major with the 603rd Aviation Support, Battalion, DISCOM, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, and Command Sergeant Major with the 240th QM BN and 49th QM Group, Fort Lee, Virginia.
 
He has an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College, Bachelor’s Degree in management from Excelsior University, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Touro University. His military education includes Basic Airborne, Battle Staff, Air Assault Course, Operations Course (Phase one and two), Truck Driving course (H7), Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses, First Sergeant Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Command Sergeant Major Development course, and Command Sergeant Major Force Management Course CSMC).

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal w/2 oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal w/2 oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal w/silver oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal w/2 oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal w/bronze star, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon w/numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/ numeral 3, Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. He has earned the Sergeant Audie Murphy Medallion and the Order of St. Martin Medallion.
